Join John Frye, Associate Professor of Geography, Geology, and
Environmental Science, along with students Sabrina Wolf, Environmental
Science major, and Peyton Walz, Journalism major, as they present
"Chasing Storms: Documenting the Extreme Weather Travel Study Course."
In this engaging lecture, Frye and his students share their experiences
from the 2025 offering of UW-Whitewater’s Extreme Weather Travel course.
Wolf explores the environmental conditions behind each day’s storms,
culminating in a StoryMap that illustrates the group’s journey from a
meteorological perspective. Walz focuses on storytelling, capturing
footage of storms and conducting interviews to produce a documentary
about the course and the experience of storm chasing.
Together, they provide insight into both the science and storytelling behind documenting extreme weather.
